NCAA Core Course Requirements

Division I requires 16 NCAA-approved core courses. Division II requires 16 core courses. You must complete specific courses in:

• English (4 years)
• Mathematics (3 years minimum, including Algebra I or higher)
• Natural or physical science (2 years)
• Social science (2 years)
• Additional core courses (5 additional in any of the above areas or foreign language, comparative religion, or philosophy)

The 10/7 Rule

By the start of 7th semester (junior year start), Division I athletes must have completed at least 10 of their 16 required core courses, with at least 7 in English, Math, or Natural/Physical Science.

GPA Requirements

• Division I: Minimum 2.3 GPA in core courses with a sliding scale for test scores
• Division II: Minimum 2.2 GPA in core courses
• Your core course GPA is calculated only from NCAA-approved courses on your school's approved list
